Western New England College gets to .500 mark with non-conference victory over Smith

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
- The Western New England College women's lacrosse team reached the .500 mark after posting a 17-4 victory over visiting Smith in a non-conference contest Wednesday (Mar. 10).

The Golden Bears have now won two straight to even their record at 2-2.

Freshman Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY) led the Golden Bears with four goals and an assist while senior Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) also scored four times.

Sophomore Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) continued her fine play with two goals and three assists.

Junior Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) and freshman Ali Pepe (North Reading, MA) each added two goals and an assist. Senior Jackie Green (Sauderstown, RI) also tallied a pair of goals.

Freshman Julianne Green (Brightwaters, NY) contributed a goal and assist. Junior Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) chipped in with an assist.

Western New England College junior goalies Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) and Erin Doherty (Westford, MA) compiled two and four saves, respectively.

Senior Carolyn Whiting (South Orange, NJ) led the Pioneers (who were playing their season opener) with two goals.

Freshman Chelby Wakefield (East Longmeadow, MA) netted a goal and assist. 

Freshman goalie Alina Pechacek (Andover, MA) did a nice job making 10 saves in a reserve role.
