CLERMONT, Fla.
- The Western New England College softball team split a doubleheader defeating Mount Saint Vincent (N.Y.) 3-2 in the first game before falling to Rhode Island College 6-3 in the second contest Wednesday afternoon (March 17) at the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games.

In the first game, sophomore designated player Sarah Lempicki (Southington, CT) delivered the game-winning single with outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Junior first base player Trish Breault (Millville, MA) had a single, double, and triple, and scored a pair of runs, including the final run that ended the game.

Senior second baseman player Kate Post (Bridgewater, MA) collected two singles while senior center field Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, MA) had a RBI single.

Senior Victoria Lospinuso (West Islip, NY) was the winning pitcher tossing a five-hitter with five strikeouts and only two walks. Lospinuso retired the first eight batters she faced and fanned the side in the sixth, including the last two with runners on second and third.

In the second contest, Rhode Island College scored three times in the second and twice in the third. Junior first base player Chelsi Panagrelli (Shewsbury, MA) led the Anchorwoman with two singles, homer, and two runs.

Lempicki again led the Golden Bears with a single, double, and run-batted-in.

Freshman shortstop Jeana Longo (Schenectady, NY) reached base three times with a pair of walks, and RBI single.

Western New England College is now 2-6 during its spring break trip.
