SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Former Western New England College standout Jordan Capitanio was named the 2010 Offensive MVP of the Central European Football League (CEFL).
Playing for the Ljubljana (Slovenia) Silverhawks, Capitanio rushed for a league high 849 yards and seven touchdowns this past season.
Capitanio led his team to a 3-3 record and a second-place showing in the CEFL playoffs.
"This is a big honor for me and also for my teammates, especially because I was chosen by my opponents. That for itself speaks volumes," Jordan was quoted on the CEFL website.
The Silverhawks dropped a 42-20 decision to defending champion Vukovi Beograd (Belgrade, Serbia) this past Sunday (July 18). Capitanio had an 18-yard touchdown run to give his team an early 6-0 lead.
Ljubljana finished the regular season with a 3-3 mark and defeated the Budapest Wolves 31-14 to advance to its first league title contest.
Capitanio is second on the Golden Bears' all-time rushing list with 3,083 yards from 2005-08 and second with 244 points. The Torrington, Connecticut native earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2009.
